Gautam Gambhir's adoption to test cricket has given him scintillating results. Now he is among the five best batsmen in the world. The stylish left hander had all the ingredients of making into an international batsman. His stumbling block was the hook shots that he was playing, and when he cut them down, the New Zealand bowlers had to really slog like work horses to get his wicket.

Review of the second day of the third test between India and New Zealand played in Basin Reserve on Saturday. India resumed play from 375-9 and finished at 379. In response, NZ could only make 197 runs as Zaheer Khan had a five-wicket haul. India were 51-1 for at day two stumps, leading by 233 runs.
