The itinerary for the Champions League Twenty20 was announced in Delhi on Thursday night amidst a star-studded inaugural Twenty20 Champions Awards. The league promises a week packed with cricketing excitement from December 3 to 10 December.

The eight participating teams have been divided into two Groups. Group A comprises of Chennai Super Kings, Victoria Bushrangers, Pretoria Titans and Middlesex Crusaders while Group B has Sialkot Stallions, Rajasthan Royals, Western Warriors and Natal Dolphins. Australia, India and South Africa have two teams each in the league and one team each from Pakistan and England is playing. England originally had two seats but Kent (who had beaten Middlesex in Twenty20 Cup final) had two ICL players and were thus denied entry. ICL is a rival to BCCI-backed IPL and gets no favor with any cricketing bodies.

avatar I have no problems with - "if people get entertainment, organisers
money"; the only concern is will the game survive in its true spirit if the
target is only to churn out money from it? I am not asking for the end of all
these things, I just want a balance between the two extreme thought process
pertained to the game of cricket in the minds each & every human being in love
with this game.

Too much Professionalism in a game will kill it forever. Be professional on the
field but do not loose the excitement & aggression and be professional in
managing it but do not get profit oriented. After all it is a Game loved by
masses and not a Company run by certain classes!!!
DeadlyYanky  - Cricket: A Sport or A Marketing Tool?   |2008-10-25 23:15:55
avatar It is really difficult to understand now that what are these so called cricket
administrators doing with the sport. On one hand they give away the T20 awards
separately & make us feel that it is still not upto the standards of Test & ODI
cricket and on the other hand the T20 fever created by them makes one feel that
it is going to be the future. Why are the cricket lovers being treated like a
mere pawn in all these marketing gimmicks???
I hope the game does not dies after
continuous target of churning out money from it.
