The 17th ICL match between Chennai Superstars and Delhi Giants was exciting till the last minute. The ICL T-20 Match had all ingredients of a nail biting finish reports Cricket360. Chennai Superstars won the toss and elected to bat first. Chennai Superstars entered the match with confidence from their previous win. Delhi Giants badly needed a victory as they were in a losing streak.
Chennai Superstars had a shaky start losing their star opener Harvey in the first over itself. Then wickets were continuously falling but the run rate was maintained at 10 per over till the sixth over. All batsmen were aggressive and were dismissed early. The cricket score of Chennai Superstars was 60 runs in the 6th over. Chennai Superstars were in bad need of a partnership.Satish and Badani put on a partnership of 67 runs and steadied the innings of Chennai Superstars. Satish was the aggressor scoring 41 runs off 28 balls including 6 boundaries and a maiden six. Badani on the other hand played a patient knock and remained unbeaten on 51 runs off 45 balls with 5 boundaries and a six. This partnership proved to be the foundation of Chennai Superstars good batting performance. Chennai Superstars finished their innings for a cricket score of 166 runs with some aggressive knocks by law towards the end. It was a competitive score. The bowling performance of Delhi Giants was ordinary and Ali Murtaza was very economical giving away only 11 runs in his spell of 4 overs and taking a wicket. Delhi Giants changed their batting line up and Atapattu opened the innings with Mishra. Delhi Giants were losing miserably because of their poor batting and opening pair comments Cricket360. Delhi Giants openers played sensibly and put on a partnership of 60 runs in 7 overs and both were dismissed in the same over. This was the only positive about the batting of Delhi Giants. The last over came and Harvey was given the ball with Delhi Giants needing to score 25 runs off the last over. This was a dramatic over having all twists and turns. First ball, Harvey bowled Bond and the next delivery was a single. Then Mahajan played a blister of an innings. Delhi Giants needed 24 runs from 4 balls. Mahajan scored a boundary in the 3rd ball. The next delivery went for a six. From here on, pressure was on Harvey in not bowling a no ball or a wide. Next delivery went for a couple and the last delivery went for a six. Harvey bowled sensibly in not conceding extras, reports Cricket360. Delhi Giants fell just 6 runs short off the target. The middle order batsmen of Delhi Giants collapsed as usual and each player contributed runs in 2 figures with no batsmen playing an anchor innings and playing a winning knock comments Cricket360 . This was a better performance from Delhi Giants considering their previous matches. Chennai Superstars won the match narrowly and took away 2 points. Hemang Badani was declared man of the match for his unbeaten knock of 51 runs.
