In the 22nd ICL T-20 Match between Chandigarh Lions and Bengal Tigers, it was TP Singh’s day out as the Tigers let the Lions out in ICL except for a short span of “Marshaling” and the latter dined with an eight wicket victory over the Tigers.

ICL's Chandigarh LionsAfter being wounded in their last ICL Season 2 encounters, both Chandigarh Lions and Bengal Tigers wanted to go home with a convincing victory in the 22nd match of ICL T-20 Challenge. Tigers were fully throttled to make it big after they were sent to bat first by the toss winning skipper Andrew Hall. Though Marshal struggled a bit in the first couple of overs, he regained the momentum by snatching 20 runs out of a 4th over bowled by Tuffey. Thereafter he started demolishing the bowlers as if he had been assigned with the contract of cracker show on the occasion of ‘Deewali’ here in Gurgaon. At that time, Cricket360 found Tigers, pretty confident a side to build up a total of 175 or more runs in 20 overs.

When the score was 100 runs Tuffey but, took sweet revenge by showing Marshal the way back. Marshal played an egregious knock of 57 runs with 8 boundaries and 2 sixes from 35 deliveries. Once the demolisher was back in the pavilion, Hall had something bitter to offer for Bengal Tigers, in the form of part time bowlers like TP Singh, Sharma, Ablish etc. As they took over the charge of pitching the ball on the weak points of Tigers, the whole scenario turned up side down. From a score of 67/1 in 7 overs, Tigers collapsed drastically in to 101/5 in 13 overs. Further Hall and Ablish shouldered the responsibility of cleaning up the tail end of Tigers. After 20 overs, Bengal Tigers had to satisfy with 140 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Cricket360 felt that Tigers ended up 30-40 runs short of what had been expected after a spectacular start provided by Marshal.

ICL's Royal Bengal TigersAfter being set to chase a total of 140 runs, opener TP Singh well anchored Lions’ innings with an aggressive batting to get past the required equation at the expense of only 2 wickets, that too in 17.3 overs. TP Singh along with Sarabjeet took only 38 balls to bring the first 50 runs for Chandigarh Lions. In the 6th over TP Singh was given a life by Shivsagar which proved to be lethal for the Tigers. Cricket360 could notice a high degree of understanding among the openers as they were easily grabbed singles out of the fog. But once again Sarabjeet failed to survive long in the crease after getting a good start and surrendered to Ahamed for 19 runs.

Then, Manish cane to company TP Singh’s business and at half way down, Chandigarh Lions were well positioned at a score of 77 runs for one wicket. Vincent joined hands with TP Singh once Manish departed after an entertaining 25 runs of 20 balls. The duo easily chased down the target of 140 runs with a long off boundary from Vincent with 15 balls to spare.

TP Singh scored 74 runs from 48 deliveries in which he dispatched the ball 8 times to the boundary and belted it twice over the fence. That anchoring knock accompanied with a remarkable bowling performance made him the lone contender for man of the match award.
