Dhaka Warriors out performed Chandigarh Lions in the 25th ICL T-20 match by 8 wickets to script their 3rd win ICL Season 2 with 13 balls to spare.
It was the bowlers of Dhaka Warriors who made the trap to suppress Chandigarh Lions to 138 for 9 wickets after Bhashar had opted to field on winning the toss in the 25th ICL Season 2 match here in Panchkula. While chasing Chandigarh Lions’ total of 137 runs, both the openers of Bangla Army were giving due respect to the veteran bowlers Andrew Hall and Tuffey as they earned only 42 runs from the first 6 overs of field restriction. The opening duo took 46 balls to complete their 50 runs partnership and immediately after, Nazimuddin had to leave at a score of 53 runs on the board as he found it difficult to get past a vigilant Uniyal of B Sharma. Aftab too was short lived and it was none other than Bipul Sharma who struck Dhaka Warriors again.Cricket360 felt the mercury rising on the side of Dhaka Warriors as they were restricted to 62 for 2 after 11 overs of their innings. The next two overs too offered the same dish for Warriors and they were struggling at 76 for 2. 14th over by Tuffey brought some relief to Warriors as Nafeez and Alok Kapali started easing the tension out by hitting boundaries. TP Singh was treated miserably by Kapali in the next over and a total of 14 runs were snatched by Warriors including a towering six. Cricket360 felt the disruptiveness of Dhaka Warriors immediately after they touched the three figure mark as Nafeez and Kapali together tortured Tuffey with 16 runs in the 16th over. 15 more runs were added to the total in the next over and Warriors needed only 8 runs in the last three overs. On the penultimate ball of the 18th over by Hall, Kapali couldn’t refrain from exulting by hitting a boundary to bag the third win for Dhaka Warriors in ICL Season 2. Nafeez grabbed 73 run of just 60 balls and Kapali joined the hard hitters’ company again by nabbing 32 runs in a lightening speed within 17 balls. Except B Sharma all other Lions’ bowlers went home with empty pockets.Earlier in the first half of the innings, Chandigarh Lions failed miserably to put up a defendable total in front of Dhaka Warriors as they collapsed tragically in to 137 for 9 in 20 overs. Cricket360 feared them surrendering even before making it to a three figure mark as at a time they were wandering around 45 for 4 in the 7th over. It was their skipper Hall’s experience that saved them from a big collapse and he was assisted by Bipul Sharma and C Sharma with 30 and 27 runs respectively. But at the end of the day they had little to enjoy as an enviable batting line up of Dhaka Warriors was ready to chase down the target of 138 runs within 17.5 overs. Dhaka Warriors made a tremendous come back in ICL Season 2 after their unexpected mishaps in the early stages of the tournament with this win over Chandigarh Lions.
