In the 27th ICL T-20 match, Chennai Super Stars managed to cross the 200 mark in ICL Season 2 for the first time and they humiliated Mumbai Champs by 75 runs.
It is all about shining stars that Cricket360 has to talk about after their spectacular batting to get past the 200 mark in this ICL Season 2 and a devastating bowling to crumble Mumbai Champs in to 130 for five. After winning the toss Russel Arnold straight away sent his stars to shine in the crease. Openers Hemant and Vignesh were much obliged to their skipper and the opening partnership nabbed first 50 runs within 27 balls. But at a score of 59 runs on the board Hemant departed and skipper Arnold too went back contributing only 2 runs to the total score. The remaining batsmen had the role of supporting only as the man of the match Vignesh did the assault alone. He excavated 50 runs of just 29 balls in which he struck the ball four times to the fence and similarly four times he belted it over the ropes. When he was bowled by Avinash Yadhav for 88 runs from 53 balls, the score was soaring high at more than 9 runs per over. The rest was handled beautifully by SG Law by a last minute rupture. He spoiled the bowlers by picking 55 runs from the last 19 balls. At the end Chennai Super Stars’ score card read 205 for 7 wickets with kindness of Champs in the form of 25 extra runs. A frightened total of 205 runs hanged above Mumbai Champs like the ‘sword of Damocles’ from the very beginning of their innings, Cricket360 felt. In the third over, in an attempt to raise the run rate, Jhadav hit the ball aloft but could not escape from a running Hayward out side the 30 yards and he had to depart. After 3 overs Champs were stagnating at a score of 19/1. The required run rate was mounting up at a peak speed. Astle was the lone warrior to fight back and only Raza could support him a little bit with 17 runs. They took more than 10 overs to get past the 50 mark. Astle was left unarmed as his colleagues kept on falling at every turning of the battle and Cricket360 admires his braveness in fighting till the last minute. The veteran bat managed to get an unbeaten 68 runs of 61 balls. Cricket360 but realizes that victory is bought in cricket not by a single man and the fate of Mumbai champs too was not different. They could make only 130 runs at the end of the allotted overs, 75 runs well short of the target. Vignesh’s amazing performance earned him the man of the match price and at the end of the day; Chennai Super Stars snatched two more points easily in the ICL Season 2 .
