It seems Nagpur Police has been specially trained in performing somersaults! Saying something the other day and denying it just the next day---what an extraordinary example of playing a volte-face! Here is Cricket360 breaking news on Nagpur police’s double standard regarding Sachin’s security.
The sleepy, hilly town, the orange city of India, Nagpur is now having its hands full with sensational cricket and celebrity news---the venue for the make- or- break Test match against Australia, the venue chosen by one of the mega stars of the internationals cricket for playing his last Test match, the high profile wedding of the former miss World Yukta Mukhi and yesterday’s bombshell about Sachin’s security! And just when the whole country was getting infected with the excitement, it was now the turn of Nagpur Police to drop the second bombshell; the Police now informed the media that there had been no such security threat to the life of any individual cricket star as such! The Police took just a few hours to drift away from what they had said earlier that day! What led the police make this perfect turn around is a matter of great speculation. One source in central Security Agency has told the media that Nagpur Police might have been referring to the security alert issued by the central government back in 2002. What fun! A misinformed Police Chief addressing the media on a fake issue and sending the ministry as well as the entire nation on nerve wrecking suspense! However, despite the drama, security network has been tightened around Sachin. He has not even arrived here with the team. The Pride hotel, where Indian team is staying is receiving the top level security---no entry for any vehicle, Coffee shops and restaurants have been shut down, request for the photo identity submission from the boarders---there is no shortage of showing how much the nation cares for this international cricket maestro.
As expected, Sachin, who is rather habituated to these types of so called security threats, is as cool as ever. But the international cricket circuit is waiting with bated breathe---is the incident going to affect Sachin’s concentration? In the past life- threatening warnings could not influence his performances. Be it in Karachi or in Peshawar---brilliant cricket scores came from the bat of this genius. But this time it is different---over the past six months the nation has experienced 63 blasts and Jaish-e-Mohammad is particularly active in the Pune-Nagpur region. In this situation one can not brush off the whole incident as a mere bluff. So what awaits the upcoming cricket this time? Is it going to determine who lifts the Border Gavaskar Trophy ? Well, you must wait till 6th.
