On Friday, the Kerela pacer Shanthakumaran Sreesanth’s birthday bash turned wild and a guest was carried out with severe bleeding in his mouth. Things got so chaotic that neighbours in the upscale apartment in the heart of the City were forced to seek police help to restore peace.

Shanthakumaran_Sreesanth.jpgAccording to sources, four days ago, Sreesanth moved into The Elgin Apartments, 304 “A” block, III Floor in Langford Town on Hosur Road.

Some 25-30 buddies of the bowler were invited for the birthday party; his sister and brother too had come down for the occasion. The party got going at around 10:45 pm amid music and dance, but the chill out session boiled over after midnight.

Neighbours lost their cool after the music turned into a decibel assault and they started howling for peace.

With no order in sight, some of the residents asked the security to take things in their hands. When the guards went up to see what was happening, to their shock, they saw a profusely bleeding youth being carried out.

When they raised questions, some of the guests pounced on them and asked them to just shut up. Later, the injured was taken to M S Ramiah Hospital in a black Swift car which came from outside.

Pointing to a possible brawl, a portion of a wall on the terrace garden has also been damaged.

It is learnt that the flat owner is in Mysore and Sreesanth moved in recently. He has taken the flat for a short duration as he is said to be scouting for a permanent one.

Meanwhile, the Elgin residents’ association has lodged a written complaint with the Ashok Nagar police about the Friday night incident. Police are believed to have questioned the security staff.

The quickie has of late been in the news for things other than cricket. The BCCI had issued a show-cause notice after he got into a scrap with the Hotel Grand Ashok staff. A few days ago, he was involved in a road rage near Queen's Apartment.

Incidentally, a day before the brawl, he reportedly told a regional newspaper that he did not wish to be in the news for the wrong reason. Efforts to contact the paceman were futile but he was curious and called this paper’s sports desk to find out if any story about him was being put out. Sreesanth is training at the National Cricket Academy here. A couple of Karnataka cricketers are also staying in the same apartment.
