A new face of the Australian team has come forward which shows it's weaker or the meek side. Before this series it was thought that the word defeat does not appear in the Australian team's dictionary but this was proved wrong by the Indian team moreover they have added a few words too like annihilation. The person responsible for such a shameful defeat is none other than Ricky ponting himself. Yes the person who thought that he was indestructible and indomitable was solely responsible for such a catastrophic defeat. Australians records were shattered which had persisted for years. For instance it was after 7 years or so when Australia did not even win a single test match in a series also it was their second largest defeat in international cricket at Mohali.
The Australians don't even have an excuse what can they say after all that Symonds was not present or they didn't have a good bowling line up. Before making such bad excuses they should check out their players in the team--Matthew Hayden considered to be one of the greatest batsmen in international cricket, Michael Hussey Mr. Cricket himself, Brett lee the fastest bowler ever known , Michael Clarke who is considered as the future captain of the (so called) world champions and last but not the least Mr. captain himself who has an AVG to envy for and almost considered to be equivalent to Sachin Tendulkar but in the end it was a debutant Krejza who got them wickets and a bench warmer Simon Katich who gave some sort of good starts to the Australian team. What else did the Australian Team want return of Sir Don Bradman?
Let us talk about the Contribution of Ponting in this series he had a miserable Avg. of something like 38 which is far below his total Avg. in test carrier and its hard to believe he even bowled trying to copy the ways of Mahendra Singh Dhoni of trying something odd (Don't know where he kept his brains) . I don't want the readers of this article to die of laughter so I won't discuss about his bowling. Ponting who was unable to show any signs of good batting (or bowling ha ha ha) even showed what self centered and selfish prick he is in Kotla test. Mr. Ricky ponting allowed his part time bowlers to bowl keeping his front end bowlers on hold not because he was expecting some miracle to happen but just because he did not want to get penalized of a test match ban owing to a slow over rate. How can a sportsperson representing his country allow his country to take a back seat for his selfish reasons? Even the players might be praying for his ban at that time so that they can at least win one test. The major problem with ponting is that he just wants to have records under his belt of being the most successful captain of Australia by hook or by crook which we have already witnessed in the previous Border - Gavaskar Trophy in which he showed his true nature. He even acted as an umpire and gave his own decision of Sourav being caught behind (however the camera pictures showed a different story).
Mr. Ricky ponting must know that it is not records for which a player plays but plays for his country his principles and values. One can see it in today's world also that there are many bowlers in international cricket who have broken Col. Kapil Dev's record but still Kapil Dev is remembered for his humility as a good sport and a person who represented India . So Mr. Ricky Ponting should resign as suggested by many famous sportsperson and Cricket Columnist (like Peter Roebuck) to be axed as the Australian captain. It's better to lose a game than ones Character and values.
This is the true joy in life - being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances. George Bernard Shaw

The Border - Gavaskar Trophy has finally come to an end showcasing the Indian team as the triumphant one. But the most important question it has raised is that is this End of Australian domination? Is this the Beginning of a new dawn? Is this the Beginning of Team India's regime? A lot of doubts and questions have aroused after the End of this series. But the most important question which remains unanswered is regarding the Australian captain Mr. Ricky Ponting.
