India vs. England: Yuvraj Shines, Team Selection Questioned Print E-mail
Pitched By Cricket360 Reporter

Rating 3.0/5 (2 votes)

The bad boy of Indian cricket ‘Yuvraj Singh’ comes back with vengeance. The back to back century in India vs. England ODI Series shows not only his metal but also the growing use of power in the so-called gentleman’s game. In this batting extravaganza of Yuvraj Singh, the only question which rises now is: Is he being sincere in replacing the senior players with responsibility or is it the same old story of Captaincy presented with great shots and not words this time?

Yuvraj SinghWhatever it is, the beneficiaries of this ‘Mega Drama of Indian Cricket’ are the cricket lovers and the ‘Titanic’ being drowned this time is the English Team. It is not even a week and two Titans of the game: Aussies and the English have been thrashed by the evergreen underdogs of cricket: ‘Team India’. This is not the first time when Indian Team has shown the gate to the Cricket Biggies; whether it was Kapil Dev’s Team or Sourav Ganguly’s Team or the present team under the Captaincy of Mr. Dhoni, India has always been the roadblock to glory or been the Team to stand and stop the winning spree of the Cricket Power Houses.

Under all these positives of Indian Cricket, the old ailment remains. The Indian Cricket Team Selection Committee of BCCI is under question again with the selection of M Vijay, Rohit Sharma and Munaf Patel in the Indian squad against England. M Vijay did well but not something great against the Aussies to get a place in the ODI squad but thanks to the Chairman of the Selection Committee Mr. Srikkanth for being extra kind to his home town lad.

Rohit Sharma did well in the domestic cricket again but he has been failing badly in the International Cricket Matches. His performance against the Australians in Australia should have made the selectors to give a chance to youngsters like Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan, who are in good nicks and have been knocking the doors hard.

Munaf Patel is lucky like Ajit Agarkar or Dhoni’s favourite Joginder Sharma? God knows! He is a medium Pacer without pace, line, length and aggression. The only thing which kept him in news was the spat with Sehwag and only thing which kept him in the team is his closeness with Dhoni. Is this cricketing sense or mere playing the lucky charms of the captain? Cricket360 has raised questions and suggested solutions everytime by looking onto areas to be improved by Team India in both good and bad times, but now we leave it open to you - ‘The Cricket Fans & Lovers’ to decide what is good for the Indian Cricket. Come and suggest ways for the improvement of Indian Cricket through your valuable comments and help us let it bring into notice of the office bearers of the BCCI and the Indian Players.

One more thing before we leave it open to you, Cricket360 congratulates RP Singh on being lucky with selection this time. Ishant Sharma’s injury opened the gate for him otherwise the favouritism would have got in Munaf with performer Ishant in the Team. Let us enlighten the minds of our Selectors for a bright future of Indian Cricket.

Arun  - wheres the bias   |2008-11-20 17:51:47
Comeon guys, where is the bias here. I dont see any bias here.Munaf has been very
consistent and had been among the wickets.may be lacks the pace, but it is dumb
to suggest that he has got no line and length. This itself invalidates your
article.Coming to Vijay selection being said as bias.He has done well in
domestic ad he is in form, moreover sachin is not there,so u ve just 2 openers in
ur squad. So vijay selection is justified. If it is actually bias, then why
should srikanth drop Badrinath. Atleast next time put some article with some
sense.
Varun  - come on it's biased   |2008-11-21 10:23:13
Why is m vijay in the team i dont know seroiusly if Team india wants a waterboy
then its ok! But this is sheer foolishness of him bieng in the team. what
happened to virat kohli even he is an opener and did open fro india blue team
moreover he is a much more better fielder as compred to m vijay the only
conclusion here is that the selection is biased
