India chose to bat first and was regretting it before 8 overs were bowled. The top order was gone by then and India looked in for trouble. Virender Sehwag (1), Suresh Raina (4) and Rohit Sharma (3) were tamed by Stuart Broad as India tottered at 29. The responsibility to salvage the game fell immediately on Yuvi and skipper Dhoni. Yuvraj had played an excellent knock of 138 off 78 balls in the last match reeling under an aching back and in a tight situation like that; a lot was expected out of him. He came true to all the hopes and outshone his last performance. Scoring 118 off 122 deliveries and taking 4 wickets for 28, Yuvraj had yet another day and yet another Man of the Match prize in his name.

Yuvraj stay put with opener Gautam Gambhir for a 134-run fourth wicket partnership. England cursed their luck when they missed running out Gambhir on the first ball of the match as the Delhi lad went on to raise 70 runs in the match and 1000 runs in the year 2008. So India which had scored only 57 runs from the first 14 overs had picked another 106 runs by the time they finished the 30th over. The innings slumped again as the Powerplay began in the 43rd over and tolled Yuvraj. Yusuf Pathan had begun to fire then and his fifty led India to a total of 292 runs.

England had a fidgety start as they lost Ian Bell at a total of 6. Despite several brave attempts by Prior (38), Shah (58), skipper Pietersen (33) and a fiery innings by Flintoff (43), England sunk under Yuvraj’s almighty attack. The match was accepted to be over after Yuvi dismissed Flintoff and Pietersen in the same over even as Broad (22) tried to rescue at the end.

It was entirely Yuvi’s day today. And India is now posing pretty as they lead the series 2-0.
