Thursday November 27, 2008: This date will be remembered by every Indian as this day marks the most horrifying and disgraceful day in Indian history. This is the day when the entire country woke up to witness one of the most brutal attacks by a group of terrorists named the Deccan Mujahiddin. The financial capital of the country Mumbai was under the siege. The terrorist took the entire nation by surprise and attacked innocent civilians moreover they were responsible for the killing of the three martyrs of Indian police I on a personal salute them for they truly represent what it means to die for your own country.
This incident has serious implications on the image of India as a country in front of the entire world showcasing it as the most unsafe place on planet earth. Being an Indian this incident has angered me and affected me emotionally on watching my fellow Indians being killed (with no reason at all).
This incident has also affected various cricketing nations (which I must say not in the right way). England has decided to call of the ongoing series the hero Honda cup followed by the two test matches the Australian players which were going to participate in the Champions trophy too have decided not to land in India. In the end what matters is that with this decision they have made the terrorist attack a successful one. Because if a terrorist is able to raise fear and panicky then he has succeeded in what he wanted.
In a way England can defend itself by saying that their life is at stake and its unsafe to play. I agree to this but then lets us pose a question here weren’t their country also attacked by terrorist? Weren’t their any bomb blasts their? How can one forget the bomb attacks in London previous year but at that time did any country called of their series?
The Prime minister of England Mr. Tony Blair at that time had asked every country to come together and fight against these terrorist attacks.
So what is wrong now why is that when a terrorist attack takes place in India it’s a life threat and when it is India it’s just a normal attack. I think the England team doesn’t know that a bomb while exploding doesn’t look at the country or place at which it is exploding.
The important thing here is that being a representative of the country England team should have thought about it because they too can be under attack (hope they don’t get attacked) and they too can be under similar situation.
Australians on the other hand has always been a neutral country on the terrorism issue but it should know that the way things are going on no one Knows what will be the future. At such a moment when our country requires some moral support and trust nobody took a stand and it is this selfishness that helps terrorism to rise again and again.
On an ending note a message to my fellow Indians: At such moments we must all come together and show these terrorist organizations that we stand united. The terrorist can kill us can annihilate us but the spirit of being an Indian will always survive. The terrorist try to divide us on basis of religion but in fact we might be Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Jews, Christians in the end we are Indians and that is the important thing. SO LET’S SAY ALOUD JAI HIND. Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. Salvor Hardin
