It seems, Dona and Sana will never get their share of attention from Sourav---hardly a fortnight into his retirement from international cricket and Sourav is as busy as ever, perfecting his new roles. First the cricket news media got a new columnist in Sourav and now it is time for him to take the seat in the commentator’s box. Read this Cricket360 article to know, why Sourav is sure to hit it off in his new avatar.
It has been an open secret from the very beginning---the high voltage media Houses are after Sourav. And it was pretty clear that Sourav is soon going to start his new innings either in print or electronic media. He has already made his debut in the print media and now Sourav is all set to give the electronic media a go. ESPN STAR Sports—the global commercial rights partner for the Champions League Twenty-20 ---has grabbed the opportunity of offering Sourav his launch pad as a commentator. As a columnist, Sourav has proved his mantle. With his crisp writing style he established his points without being fussy. No wonder, his columns went to become one of the national favorites. Now he decides to sit behind the TV microphone. As a commentator, Sourav, with his inimitable style---which he brands as “positive criticism”--- is sure to give the veterans in the field a run for their money. For who doesn’t know that whatever role dada chooses to play, he does so with great pomp and show. Dada with his dynamic style, is sure to make difference as a commentator and the media top brasses are certain that Sourav’s presence in the commentary box is going to be a big draw for higher TRP rating. Naturally, Sourav commands a higher pay packet and more freedom of choice than even the seasoned commentators like Shastri or Gavaskar. However, the former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja, and the controversial personality of international cricket, Herschelle Gibbs are among the others who will also share the box with Sourav in this upcoming cricket series. Eight teams are vying for the trophy in the December Champion’s League. The Champion’s League Twenty-20 matches will be held in three cities---Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. Sourav will make his debut in the match between Rajasthan Royals and Dolphins (South Africa), which happens to be the match number 2 and going to be held in the cyber city of Bangalore. If everything goes according to the plan, we will again get Sourav as a commentator for the second edition of ICC World Twenty-20 tournament in England, September next year. Meanwhile, don’t forget to catch Sourav in his new role in the STAR Cricket channel.
