The exciting match between ICL Pakistan XI v ICL World XI, of ICL 20s World Series, 2008/09; was held on the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad, on 26 November 2008. It was a day and night match played for 20 overs. The match was initiated by the umpires from Sri Lanka and Australia; R Martinez and DL Orchard respectively. TV umpire was A. A. Jones from England and Match referee was AL Wadekar. The match was having higher expectations of entertainment. However the gaming strategies as adopted by World XI seem to be not strong enough to compete Pakistan XI. The toss was won by ICL Pakistan XI, and they eventually who chose to field first. The first batting was by World XI, and they managed to score 188 runs in 20 overs. World XI had the fall of wickets at very regular levels. It lost 1wicket of Goodwin, with 90 at 9.1 over. This gets followed by the next one was of Adams, with 119 runs at 12.6 over. The third loss was of Klusner with 155 runs at 16.3 over. The gaming strategies were all well followed and as a result ICL Pakistan XI won by 6 wickets, with remaining 13 balls. On the other hand Pakistan had its fall with Imran Nazir with 24runs at 1.5 over. The next one was of Imran Farhat with 38 runs at 2.6 over. The third fall was of Naved-ul-Hasan with 171 runs at 15.2 over. The last one of Shahid Yousuf with a constant of 171 at 15.4 over. However with the performances led by Abdul Razzaq (73) and Naved-ul-Hasan (74), Pakistan XI can make a score of 189 and thereby declaring the obvious victory. They were even declared the Players of the match. The performance of MW Goodwin (52) and DR Martyn (64) of World XI was outstanding, but they were unable to manage the victory as the rest of the players were not contributing much. With a score of ‘0’, it is definitely not something well expected from World XI. However there are more excitement and better performances were expected from them.
