Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and MAK Pataudi were called upon to adjudicate on the Citi Under-23 Success of the DLF IPL 2009 Tournament and the three have reached a unanimous decision that it is Rohit Sharma who is deserving of this award. Having scored 333 runs at an average of over 27 runs, he has also taken 11 wickets which wins him a cash award of Rs. 10,00,000 (about 21,000 dollars).

In a battle of South India, Royals Challengers Bangalore go head to head with Chennai Super Kings in the second semi final of the DLF IPL 2009 today. It will be decided today at Johannesburg who will meet the Deccan Chargers for the final tomorrow. Former Indian captain and Chairman of the selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth was fulsome in his praise of RCB skipper Anil Kumble and the resurgence he brought about in his team, but feels that CSK have what it takes to make the final and win the tournament this year.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has spoken in the cricket news that it is Delhi Daredevils that seem to be the strongest team in the DLF IPL 2009; the team to beat, even as Delhi take on Deccan Chargers in the first semi final of tournament today. Delhi skipper Virender Sehwag has also expressed his satisfaction that things are going well for the team and that he himself has struck form at the right time. For Deccan to win today, they will have to greatly elevate their game because Delhi has looked the more powerful and consistent outfit in this tournament.

Today the last league T20 match of the DLF IPL 2009 will be played at the Centurion and it will decide the fates not only of both the playing teams; that is the Deccan Chargers and the Bangalore Royal Challengers, but also of another team, the Kings XI Punjab. It is a testament to the close nature of the competition in the DLF IPL’s T20 matches that until the last league match is played, we will not know who the four teams in the semi finals are!

Mumbai Indians are out of the DLF IPL 2009 and for all practical purposes today’s match against Delhi Daredevils will be of academic interest only, because it is of no real consequence to either of the teams. However a win for Mumbai means that Sachin Tendulkar’s team will walk away from the tournament with some pride having won their last match. On the other hand a win for Delhi will mean that they regain some of their winning momentum that they lost against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
