Assurance from Sachin Wins Back Neighbours’ Goodwill Print E-mail
Pitched By Cricket360 Investigator
Thursday, 18 December 2008

Rating 5.0/5 (1 vote)

The controversy had nothing to do with cricket; it was about his property and the anguish it stirred among the local residents. But then the maestro knows better - how to turn the foe into friend with a single stroke. Cricket360 on Sachin’s charming ways with his would be Neighbours.

Yet another master stroke from the master blaster - he wins the hearts of his would be Neighbours in upscale Bandra by apologizing for the huge noise pollution that has struck the locality due to the construction process of his six-storied property. Those arrogant and filthy rich property owners - it is hard to imagine any one of the creed sending across written apologies to their Neighbours for the inconvenience created by the building of their own mansions. But then when Sachin was an ordinary man? The cricket icon has gone all the way to send his personal staff to the individual households to let them know that he would take all possible steps to minimize their inconvenience.

The property was reportedly changed the hands for a massive Rs. 39 crore in May. The huge structure is expected to get completed by the end of 2009, when Sachin will move in this new locality from his present residence in Bandra Reclamation. The celebrities who are going to be the cricket maestro’s Neighbours in his new address include Shahrukh Khan, Naseeruddin Shah and Leander Paes.

Months back there stood the two story mansion called Dorab Villa. Now it is the corrugated tin sheet surrounded site for Sachin’s house - a six storied building under construction. The plot is in the quiet corner of Perry Cross road and the Neighbourhood suffered the harassments of worst kind in the recent months due to the noise of the dismantling of 9000 square feet Dorab Villa and the traffic congestion caused by the trucks carrying constructional materials on to the site. It was then natural that the chaos got on the nerves of the Neighbourhood people.

But the sweet letter from Sachin changed it all. With a few lines of apology, Sachin managed to make an impressive score - but one different from his cricket scores.

The letter dated December 5 reads:

My Dear Neighbours,

You must be aware that I have purchased a plot on Perry Cross Road, and the piling work for the construction of my house has already started. I was there at the site when the work commenced and I am aware of the noise generated by the machine. I want to reassure you that I will make sure that the work is done in a manner causing least inconvenience to all.

Your cooperation is appreciated and I look forward to moving into the neighbourhood soon.

Sachin Tendulkar

The humility with which Sachin approached his would be Neighbours has put out the entire controversy with a single blow. The Neighbourhood people are now ready to willingly bear all the inconveniences. After all, you do not often get to see rich and famous paying heed to the concerns of common people. As Cricket360.com observes, the general mood of irritation - the noise of hammering 12 hours a day for months can drive anybody mad - has changed into an air of eager enthusiasm following the letter from the iconic player.

If only more Indians could follow the suit and try to be as nearly friendly a neighbour as Sachin!
