Australia opened their innings positively with Marsh and Warner opening the batting for Australia. Shaun Marsh, a reliable opener was dismissed earlier but Warner smashed the balls all around the ground and made the life of South African bowlers hard. Warner reached his first half century in style and scored 50 runs in just 19 balls featuring 5 boundaries and 4 massive sixes. Ponting provided good support to Warner and managed to score 21 runs.
