The fourth one day international match between South Africa and Australia had a lot of expectations and Australia were in a must win situation to stay alive in the series. South Africa had the upper hand in this match. Australia managed to win the all important toss and elected to bat first. South Africa had an easy win in the fourth ODI thereby capturing the one day series in Australia.
Australia had a shaky start losing their openers for a cricket score of 17 runs in the 2nd over itself. South African bowling performance was disciplined and they managed to take wickets at regular intervals and dismissed the Australians in the 47th over for 222 runs. South Africa started their chase positively and the 50 run opening partnership laid the foundation of the victory. Gibbs was dismissed for 38 runs from 36 balls featuring 8 boundaries. Gibbs was dealing only in boundaries continuing his form from the previous match. Kallis was also declared for 13 runs sooner. Then AB De Villiers joined Amla and took South Africa to easy victory in the 38th over itself. South Africa made the chase very easy and registered their 3rd win of the series capturing the series. Amla played slowly and gave a solid start to South Africa and remained unbeaten on 80 runs from 103 balls featuring 7 boundaries. AB De Villiers played aggressively and took South Africa to an easy victory. AB De Villiers remained unbeaten on 82 runs from 85 balls featuring 6 boundaries and a six. AB De Villiers was declared man of the match for his aggressive knock. South Africa now leads the series 3 – 1 and has captured the one day series comfortably.
