The month long holiday is over. The scene at Chennai's International Airport wasn't quite like the boys trouping back to the boarding school, rather an ebullient bunch eager to step into the war zone, reports Cricket360.
Sri Lanka is quite literally a war zone these days but Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men will challenge Sri Lanka's Cricket Team and not its army over the next fortnight. As the jet airways flight wheeled into Sri Lanka's Bandaranaike International Airport one could feel the nerves. Few dozen gun toting men greeted the team and a handful of fans. Truly the country has been war ravaged. The enthusiasm over the cricket series seems at an all time low…and that in itself is quite surprising! The Indian team came back from a holiday into a very hectic schedule. First, the unfurling of the National Flag in Chennai, then hopping onto a flight to get to Colombo. In three hours they were meeting the High Commissioner at a dazzling do and then off to Dambulla. At least a good sleep would have revived them now The Men in Blue…rather grey this time because of the new Nike Gear, are bonding really well. The bond translates into everything, even while picking up the luggage at the airport and looking out for each other. They waited till Ms Dhoni was over with his duty free shopping spree. Armanis and Hugo Bosses are a rage with the Boss so much so that he picks them up by the dozen. This time with journalists around the skipper did not make a dash for his favourtive, the chocolate section. While his mind is plotting the downfall of the Lankans yet again, he is secretly noting his shopping list also. The former Indian Skipper Sourav Ganguly's message to the team was, while in Lanka, plan your shopping in advance. ODEL is the destination for all. Apparently the team's also looking forward to a swanky man of the series prize which is yet undeclared. Their sources have told them that it could be a Beamer. So the competition to join the club of elites is intense. MSD has always maintained that prizes motivate his men and what could be a better one than a beamer, to beat the Lions in their backyard?
