Dambulla is 19 kms. from Sigriya on the Sigriya-Kandy Road. Around 80 caves in the area and the Dambulla rock temple dating back to the 1st century BC attract people from world over. And though Cricket seemed like a serious distraction in this part of the world, considered as one of the most favoured holiday destination by the lovers and followers of Buddhism, Team India was in no mood to let the opportunity go after their win in the first one dayer. So while some still preferred to watch HBO in their hotel room, the others went out to soak the sights and sounds of nature, reports Cricket360.
The Rose Quartz Mountain and Iron Wood Forest have been a hit among the men in blue. Also a visit to the resort Amaya Lake seemed mandatory as this is the lake Shahrukh King Khan and Kareena Kapoor danced around in the film Asoka. And with the media being hit hard by the recession, the Players are enjoying sometime away from their prying eyes. The size of the media contingent this time in Lanka is 17, which is less than half that turned up for the test and one day series last year. Infact one player did mention to yours truly, 'We are missing all the fun with less Media here and fewer interview requests. It is so much fun to watch you guys'. That apart they have enjoyed cricket, the food and the people, made new friends at the pool table in Taj Samudra. Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan and Suresh Raina are the regulars with Sachin Tendulkar joining them ocassionally. Infact their social lives are equally busy as is their cricket schedule. On Friday some of them will join the cast and crew of the Film "VICTORY" to promote it. The crew has flown down from Mumbai but will miss one of the most prominent starcast of the film, Harbhajan Singh. However this widely publicised biopic of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is expected to draw crowds at least for the first few days. It has as many as 6 Indian Cricketers besides Lankans, Australians and South Africans. Shot during the last IPL, it’s all set for the Friday premiere with cricket stars.
