The final one day international match between South Africa and Australia was an issue of prestige for Australia. Australia was in desperate need of closing the series with a win comments Cricket360. South Africa had other plans though and won the final match and more they have become number one by displacing the mighty Australians. South Africa was fully delighted after the win and they enjoyed their win in the pitch.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. Gibbs was dismissed earlier in the 5th over for 7 runs when the cricket score was 28 runs. South Africa kept on losing wickets and had a weak start. The 3rd wicket partnership of 118 runs between AB De Villiers and Amla was the feature of the South African innings. South Africa did not capitalize on the power plays and managed to score only 80 runs. Amla played a patient knock. AB De Villiers was dismissed for 60 runs from 71 balls featuring 4 boundaries when the cricket score was 176 runs in the 37th over.

Duminy joined Amla and continued his good form in this match also. Duminy was the aggressor for South Africans and remained unbeaten for 60 runs from 42 balls featuring 3 boundaries and 3 sixes. Amla was dismissed for 97 runs from 117 balls in the 40th over. South Africa capitalized on the last 10 overs and scored 92 runs with Duminy scoring the majority of runs. South Africa finished their innings posting a total score of 288 runs.

Australia had a shaky start and all the top order batsmen were dismissed earlier with the impressive bowling attack of Morkel and Tsotsobe. Australia was reduced for 53 runs for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of 12th over. Australia never looked reviving after this onslaught. Michael Hussey and David Hussey steadied the innings but Duminy claimed the all important wicket of David Hussey for 32 runs in the 30th over when the live score was 122 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

Haddin was aggressive in his batting and the partnership of Michael Hussey and Haddin was looking dangerous but Tsotsobe turned the tables by taking the crucial wicket of Michael Hussey for 78 runs from 96 balls featuring 5 boundaries and a maiden six in the 38th over when the cricket score was 174 runs. Haddin had no support at the other end and was dismissed in the 47th over for 63 runs from 50 balls and everything was over then and Australia was dismissed fully for 249 runs and South Africa won the match by 39 runs and claimed the series 4 -1.

Australia was highly disappointing in the last 3 matches and South Africa reached the top spot displacing Australia. Australia has some serious thinking to be done in all departments with New Zealand had already arrived for the next series. Amla was declared man of the match for his 97 runs and Albie Morkel was declared man of the series showing the domination of South Africa over Australia in the series.
