Citing the complaint filed against him by Anil Singh Shekhawat, a Samajwadi Party member, as baseless, false and as being part of a vendetta, Modi has declared that he is still the man in charge when it comes to the Rajasthan Cricket Association. "These cases have no value at all. But there is so much kichad (mud) I want to get rid of this once and for all. I am saying take my thumb impression and send it to forensic lab. I will resign if I am proven guilty," he said.
As the Chairman and Commissioner of Indian Premier League (IPL), as well as President of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and Vice President of BCCI, Lalit Modi wears many hats, however that is not the reason that he has been in the cricket news recently. The reason that Modi has been in the international cricket headlines recently is that he has been accused of misappropriating and misusing Rs 22 lakh of BCCI funds meant for the RCA, as Cricket360 has been reporting. Citing the complaint filed against him by Anil Singh Shekhawat, a Samajwadi Party member, as baseless, false and as being part of a vendetta, Modi has declared that he is still the man in charge when it comes to the Rajasthan Cricket Association. "I haven't received a copy of the complaints regarding the RCA funds that Anil Shekhawat has filed," Modi said. Modi has indicated that this is being done in order to prevent him from approaching the Supreme Court for directions on the matter of the elections of the RCA, for which Modi had rushed to Jaipur on Saturday. "It was my duty to chair the meeting hence I came and did what was required of me as the RCA president," said Modi. This is not the only reason that Modi is in the middle of the cricket news headlines for the wrong reasons; he also has an FIR lodged against him into an alleged forgery case of grabbing a piece of land in Nagaur. This also, he has said is baseless and done with a view to malign him. "These cases have no value at all. But there is so much kichad (mud) I want to get rid of this once and for all. I am saying take my thumb impression and send it to forensic lab. I will resign if I am proven guilty," he said. Modi was charged and pleaded guilty to possession of 400 grams of cocaine, assault and kidnapping in 1985 while he was a student at Duke University, USA. He pleaded guilty on all charges and was sentenced to two years in prison. However, he did not serve any prison time and came back to India in 1986 after being released on probation. We at Cricket360.com will keep you updated on the latest in the Lalit Modi saga.
