If you are an Indian supporter, the cricket news emanating from the current India – Sri Lanka series is all good! Two up in the 5 match ODI series, the Team India take on the Lankans once again today for the third ODI at the Premadasa Stadium at Colombo in a day – night match.

Coach of the Indian team, Gary Kirsten has indicated that India should win the series today by winning the third ODI in a row, reports Cricket360.com. “We want to finish the series as early as possible. We have the momentum with us,” he was reported as having said. What with the Lankans looking tired with constant travel and cricket in the past some time, the Indians will be looking to close in for the kill today.

The fact that the captain of the team; M S Dhoni and coach work so well in tandem and are so appreciative of one another is both comforting and a welcome change as is evidenced by the fact that the two frequently make statements about the other that are admiring and positive. Kirsten has praised Dhoni for his captaincy and for guiding his boys well under pressure in the last game.

The other breaking news in the India – Sri Lanka series is that Lakshmipathy Balaji will be making a comeback to the Indian team after a really long time. Indian cricket team manager Prakash Dixit made the announcement: “Lakshmipathy Balaji will replace Munaf Patel in the squad for the last three ODIs here.”

For Balaji this means are return to international cricket after ages in the anonymous wilderness of being out of action for a stress fracture of the lower back. He has fought his way back in to the Indian side after a lot of people had pretty much written him off for it was widely believed that his injury had put paid to his career.

Balaji has been in great form in the Indian domestic cricket circuit. He represented Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy matches and South Zone in the Duleep Trophy, where his contributions and good form were noticed for him to be recalled after a very long time. Cricket360 hopes that he makes good this opportunity that has come his way.
