It’s dream come true for local lad Ali Murtaza, who is striving hard to find a place among players whom he considers his ideals. He has now inked a deal with Mumbai Indians for the next IPL season.
‘‘It’s a good opportunity and I am confident that I will do well in the IPL also,’’ said 20 something Murtaza, who had performed outstandingly in the rebel ICL.
He said: ‘‘Mumbai Indians is a good side with number of world-class players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Zaheer Khan and Dwayne Bravo in their ranks. Playing alongside top class cricketers will help me hone my skills and improve my game.’’
He’s determined to do well in future also and says: ‘‘My performance in the IPL will determine if I can make it to the India squad.’’ When asked if he is confident of a good performance in next IPL edition, he said, ‘‘When I got the chance to play for UP in the Ranji Trophy, I was not so mature. But after playing in the ICL league alongwith world-class cricketers, I have worked on my grey areas and have improved my style...I’m more mature now.’’
