Priyadarsan is on a new mission and this time it is not a Comedy Flick, this time he planning to get into the most Comic form of Cricket – Twenty20. While visiting his home town Thiruvananthapuram last week, he met his childhood friend and Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal and officials of Kerala Cricket Association to finalise a proposal to be sent to BCCI for buying an IPL franchise and participate from 2010 edition of Indian Premier League.

There seems to be the likelihood that the tussle that currently exists in international cricket between cricket boards and their respective players regarding the participation in the Indian Premier League may just become a thing of the past. ICC’s Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat has indicated that a window could be created for the IPL within the ICC’s FTP (Future Tours Programme) so that the IPL does not clash with any major tournaments.

You can hire the best in the business, acquire the priciest in international cricket, formulate the most creative and interesting of theories; but at the end of the day what won matches for the franchisees and their teams was solid, consistent and competent performances: some of them came from experienced warhorses that people assumed were just about washed up, some from youngsters barely old enough to shave, some from virtual unknowns and some from other that we expected would do the job for their team. It was also the understanding and the meeting of minds between coaches and captains that has turned the tide for many a team in the DLF IPL 2009 .
